YSF Welcome

The 19th FEBS Young Scientists' Forum

Dear Young Scientists,

It is a great pleasure and an honour to extend to you a warm invitation to attend the 19th FEBS Young Scientists’ Forum (YSF), to be held from July 3rd to 6th, 2019 in Krakow, which is organized in conjunction with the 4th FEBS Fellows Meeting and 44th FEBS Congress.

The FEBS YSF provides an opportunity for about one hundred PhD students and young postdocs selected from the FEBS Constituent Societies to meet up in a friendly, informal and international atmosphere to discuss and exchange ideas. At the 2019 YSF, every participant will have the opportunity to present their work as a one-minute talk and poster presentation, and some will also be selected to present talks within the meeting’s symposia. Participants can also enjoy keynote lectures from inspiring invited speakers, join in roundtable sessions supporting scientific career development and meet senior FEBS Fellows, who will be having their own meeting at the same venue as the 2019 YSF and will join parts of the program.

The 2019 FEBS YSF will be held in the Jagiellonian University Campus near the centre of Krakow, which will provide an excellent space for scientific presentations and exchange. There will also be a social program to give you a chance to get to know each other better and experience a bit of Krakow – a popular tourist destination and a good place to live, work and perform science. We invite you to spend time exploring SOLARIS, the Polish National Synchrotron, and to visit Wieliczka Salt Mine – 135 meters underground.

All YSF participants will also attend the 44th FEBS Congress in Krakow, from July 6th to 11th, 2019. Participation in the FEBS YSF and Congress is supported by a YSF grant from FEBS to the selected YSF participants that covers Congress registration, accommodation for both the YSF and FEBS Congress and most travel expenses. Detailed information on how to apply, including eligibility criteria, can be found on the YSF Applications page. After selection of YSF participants, the run up to the YSF gathering will be supported by a ‘Room’ especially for YSF 2019 delegates on the FEBS Network, to begin exchanging experiences and for event information.

The 19th FEBS YSF will provide a wonderful forum for you to refresh your knowledge base and explore innovations in biochemical sciences. The Forum will offer plenty of networking opportunities, providing you a chance to meet and interact with leading researchers as well as scientists at similar early-career stages.

We hope you will join us to make new fruitful friendships and scientific cooperations and enjoy this time with us in the beautiful city of Krakow. We are looking forward to receiving your application!

With best wishes,

19th YSF Organizing Committee: Anna Jagusiak (Chair), Kinga Kłodawska, Katarzyna Kolczyńska, Anna Mleczko, Sonia Trojan and Tomasz Tronina

Chair, FEBS Working Group on the Careers of Young Scientists: Prof. Irene Díaz-Moreno
