Congress Dinner in the Old Tram Depot:

Wednesday, 10th July
Start: 19:00 (till 22:00)

Location: Stara Zajezdnia Kraków by DeSilva (The Old Tram Depot)
Address: 12 Św. Wawrzyńca St., Krakow

About the Event: This informal party is organized in Stara Zajezdnia restaurant, located in the very heart of the old Jewish District – Kazimierz, 20 minutes walking distance from the Congress Centre. Stara Zajezdnia is a place that combines history with modernity. It was established in 1913 as a tram depot along with the introduction of broad-gauge tram lines in Krakow. Stara Zajezdnia was the second facility of this type at the time. It ceased functioning as a depot in the early 1960s when trams were removed and gradual deterioration led to its closure in 2007. The renovated building of Stara Zajezdnia is a unique facility. The hall is an example of wooden framework architecture with brick filling, very rare in Krakow, commonly called “Prussian wall”. The Main Hall belongs to an architectural and construction complex which is under legal protection – entered into the register of monuments in 1985 and the World Cultural and Natural Heritage List UNESCO – and recognised as a historical monument.

During the Congress Dinner you may attend the performance of the trio Di Galitzyaner Klezmorim:

A group of graduates of the Music Academy in Krakow. Initially, their repertoire had been built on original, traditional Klezmer tunes. However, presently, they prefer their own compositions, making new pieces while paying great attention to detail, quality of sound and beauty of phrases.
Their last (third) album "Above Horizon" has a recommendation from Krzysztof Penderecki.
They gave several hundred concerts both in Poland and other European countries. The most prestigious ones include: in Luxembourg as part of the celebrations of the first anniversary of the enlargement of the European Union and in Hannover at the EXPO 2000 World Exposition.
In the program of the concert, we will hear traditional Jewish melodies in the band's author arrangements as well as their own compositions maintained in the klezmer style. More info about the trio: www.klezmorim.pl

"Young Scientists' Forum – Bridge between 18th YSF Prague 2018 – 19th Krakow 2019 – 20th Lovran 2020 – Talks over beer"

Sunday, 7th July

Start: 19:30 (till 21:00)

Location: ICE Krakow Congress Centre

About the Event: We cordially invite all PhD students and postdocs to take part in an integration event organized especially for you on Sunday 7 July 2019 at 19.30 in the ICE Congress Centre.

This meeting aims to gather the participants of this year's 19th Young Scientists' Forum and those young scientists who want to learn more about this initiative. We will talk about last year's 18th YSF in Prague but we will also present opportunities to participate in next year's 20th YSF organized in Lovran.

We will encourage you to participate in integration games, drink beer and soft drinks and try traditional Krakow snacks. We want this meeting to become a platform to meet other scientists at an early stage in their careers and establish contacts between young people participating in FEBS Congresses.

We warmly invite all young participants of the FEBS Congress to participate in this event - together we will build a bridge between Prague,  Krakow and Lovran!

FEBS has twin commitments to high-quality publications and the promotion of molecular biosciences. As a charitable academic organization,
FEBS uses income from the journals to fund its diverse activities, including support for the FEBS Congress.
